Pakistan Railways (PR) has informed the public about the changes in the train schedule that will be implemented from April 15 for the summer season.
In preparation for the arrival of summer, Pakistan Railways (PR) has rescheduled six express trains. Hazara Express will now depart from Karachi City Station at 7:35 AM, as per the revised schedule.
Pakistan Express will depart from Karachi Cantt Station at 13:30 instead of 14:00. The passenger train will now depart from Karachi and Lahore at 17:00 which is an hour late from the earlier departure time of 16:30.
Instead of leaving Karachi Cantt Station at 17:30, the Malat Express will depart at 17:00. Tezgam Express will depart from Karachi Cantt Station at 18.00 instead of 17.30.
Allama Iqbal Express will now depart from Karachi Cantt Station at 18:30 instead of the earlier departure time of 15:30. According to the PR spokesperson, other trains will be run as per the timetable published earlier.
In order to modernize the operations of the Railway Department, Pakistan Railways in the month of February converted its entire system to the Railway Automated Booking and Travel Assistance (RABTA) app.
The RABTA application was developed by the Railways in collaboration with Chinese enterprises. The application will allow passengers to purchase tickets or transportation as well as food and hotel accommodation with a single tap.
During the event, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique said that the app will charge an additional Rs 9 from the user on each train ticket, while the issue of excise duty on air tickets is now being discussed with the federal government.
The federal minister also said that this program will provide citizens with the facility to book parcels and track train timings.
He said the service is being offered on the basis of a revenue sharing arrangement with China, and the app is a necessary step in the process of enhancing the operational aspects of the railways.
