QAU PhD Programs Admission Semester 2023:

Applications are invited by 3.02.2022 from Pakistani/foreign nationals for admission to the University’s PhD programs in the following subjects.

Eligible:

Admissions to the Doctor of Philosophy degree, abbreviated as PhD, are sought from all over Pakistan. Eligible foreign students are admitted with a valid HEC visa and NOC. Admission to the PhD program is granted on a competitive basis. The minimum duration of completion of the PhD program is three years while the maximum duration will be seven years.

To be eligible for admission to Ph.D., a candidate must possess an MS/MPhil degree or its equivalent in the relevant subject from a recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 (semester system) or first Division (annual system).
Before admission a PhD student must qualify with a minimum score of 60% in the NTS GAT Subject Test or score the International GRE Subject Test with a 60% percentile (except for foreign students).
A faculty member of a college or university or a member of the research staff of a research institution who holds an MA/MSc degree but has shown undoubted promise for research may also be considered for admission to the Ph.D. Is. However, the candidate must complete 24 credit hours of coursework for the MPhil/MS level as a prerequisite for admission to the PhD program.
All students entering the University’s PhD program are required to complete 18 credit hours of coursework. Course work will be based on a minimum of 12-credit hours of classroom teaching (regular courses) and a maximum of 6 credit hours of seminars.
For a PhD student who does not hold an MPhil or equivalent degree, the course work requirement will be 42 (24+18) credit hours. Coursework will be based on a minimum of 36-credit hours of classroom teaching (regular courses) and a maximum of 6-credit hours of seminars.
Paper published in W category will be accepted for students registered in PhD program of Faculty of Biological Sciences and Natural Sciences, while paper published in W, X or Y category for students registered in PhD program of Faculty of Social Sciences will be accepted. How to Apply for QAU Admission:

(a) A candidate seeking admission to the PhD program shall apply in the prescribed form at the time of advertisement.

(b) Students applying for admission are required to submit a copy of the abstract/research work. Admission is subject to the availability of a supervisor in the field of research and the requirements of HEC.

(c) The application shall be submitted to the Chairperson of the Department/School/Institute/Centre where the student wishes to study.

(d) All applications received in the Department shall be considered by the Departmental Admission Committee constituted by the Vice-Chancellor from time to time.

(e) The Admissions Committee shall, if satisfied, recommend to the Board of Advanced Studies and Research those candidates who are found eligible and suitable for admission to the Ph.D. programme.

(f) Admission shall be approved by the Board of Advanced Studies and Research.

(g) The University shall issue a notification of registration/admission letter to each candidate admitted for admission to the PhD programme.

(h) Every student so selected shall register and pay dues within 30 days from the date of issue of notification of registration/admission letter.

(i) In case of in-service students, no objection certificate from the employer must be attached with the admission form and routed through proper channel or they can submit it by the end of the first semester, failing which In this case, their admission will be cancelled. .

(j) Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview/presentation of research proposals.

(k) A student may pursue more than one PhD but not simultaneously in different universities.

(l) At the time of admission to this University every student shall give an affidavit that he is not pursuing a degree program in any other institution.

(m) A student cannot be awarded two PhDs on the same research material/document.

(n) A student cannot pursue a PhD after obtaining a migration certificate from QAU unless he transfers again to that University.
