The Punjab Workers Welfare Board is a body corporate established by a notification of the Government of Punjab under the Workers Welfare Fund Ordinance 1971. It is led by a board of directors which includes representatives of the government, workers and employers.

Punjab Workers Welfare Talent Scholarships

Eligibility Criteria:

Registered with Social Security or EOBI schemes. Having at least 03 (three) years of cumulative service. However, there is no prescribed service limit for scholarships up to Intermediate level.

Must be in service at the time of submission of application form, however, children of the deceased/disabled worker are eligible to apply for the scholarship provided the widow/legal heirs of the deceased worker have received death grant from PWWB and In case of disabled workers, the worker retired due to disability and is receiving disability benefits from PESSI/EOBI.

Student A real child of the laborer. Possessing the minimum marks to pass the previous class prescribed by the concerned Board/University/Institution. Regularly enrolled/enrolled on merit for studies under the following categories.

Note:

Students studying in Workers’ Welfare Schools, COMSATS Lahore Campus, Government Paramedics College, Faisalabad, and any other University/Institution where admission is done on Workers’ Quota are not eligible.

Apart from all student expenses, admission fee, tuition fee, transport charges, hostel/message charges, registration fee, examination fee, library fee, lab fee, computer fee (except charity funds and refundable or non-refundable securities), A fixed scholarship will be paid according to the following categories.

Cat-I

Cadet Colleges/Public Schools run by Federal or Provincial Govt.

Intermediate or equivalent course from the Federal or Provincial Board of Education or any other institution recognized by the Federal/Provincial Government.

Technical Training Institutions are registered with Provincial Board of Technical and Vocational Education/Provincial TEVTAS/NTB/NEVTEC.

Rs.1600/- evening

Cat II

Graduation degree (of two/four years duration) from a public or private university or college/institution affiliated to them, recognized by HEC.

Rs.2500/- p.m

Cat-III

Post Graduation Degree from a Public or Private University/Medical College registered with HEC

Degree from an Engineering University/Medical College registered with HEC as well as Pakistan Engineering Council or PMDC, as the case may be.

Rs.3500/- evening

Scholarship for MS/M.Phil/Ph.D

A minimum of 2.50 CGPA or 62.50% marks in Masters or Honors for admission to MPhil/MS.

Minimum 2.50 CGPA or 70% marks in M.Phil/MS for admission to Ph.D.

Students are only allowed educational expenses in the form of admission fees, registration fees, and tuition fees, and no additional scholarships will be paid.

Other Terms and Conditions

Further terms and conditions for award of scholarship to children of workers falling under Cat-II and III are:-

Prior clearance of National Testing Service (NTS) examination, if mandated under HEC regulations or any other preliminary examination, to gain admission.

Students will only enroll in HEC approved courses.

The student shall take/study all the subjects in the semester offered by the Public/Private College/University etc., as the case may be, and complete his/her course within the minimum time approved by the HEC for the said course. Complete. If a student fails to complete his/her course within the time approved by HEC, his/her case may be reviewed on the basis of cogent reasons submitted by the student for which the official/ Certified from private college/university etc. Be, and be supported with documentary evidence.

A student once registered in a course will not be allowed to change the chosen discipline.

Only a number of postgraduate level courses will be funded by WWF.

In principle, the scholarship scheme is applicable up to post-graduation level. However, the award of scholarship after postgraduate level courses will be considered on a case-to-case basis and will be permitted only with the prior approval of the Chairman, Provincial WWB or Secretary (WWF), as the case may be. Conditions

(1) If the student applies for the scholarship for the first time i.e. at the time of admission:-

Copy of Computerized National Identity Card of Worker attested by Gazetted Officer.

Copy of valid Certificate of Registration of Factory/Establishment under the Factories Act, 1934/Mines Act, 1923 attested by the employer of the establishment.

Copy of factory card of the worker attested by the employer of the establishment.

Copy of Social Security Card (R-5) or EOBI card of the worker attested by the employer of the establishment.

Copy of the appointment letter attested by the employer of the establishment or service certificate along with the original complete material of employment.

Copy of Student Card attested by Head / Authorized Officer of Educational Institution.

Copy of CNIC of the student or Form-B (in case the student is below 18 years of age) of the worker issued by NADRA and attested by the employer.

Enrollment Certificate issued by the Head / Authorized Officer of the educational institution.

In case, if the educational institution is other than a Government-run / Public Sector Institute / University / College, notification regarding registration / affiliation of the concerned institution with the Government / Directorate / HEC / Board (as the case may be) Copy of

Procedures

Applications are received in the respective offices of the District Officers Labour/ Assistant Mines Labor Welfare Commissioners. After verification of the applications by the Area Labor Officer / Mines Labor Welfare Officer, the cases are placed before the concerned District / Regional Scrutiny Committee, constituted in each District / Mines Labor Welfare Region and the Scrutiny Committee, Punjab Workers. On recommendation the Welfare Board issues checks in respect of individual applicants for distribution through the concerned District Labor Officer / Assistant Mines Labor Welfare Commissioners.
