Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of Pakistan has introduced several public and various optional public holidays for minorities in Pakistan like Baisakhi, Holi, Janmashtami, Guru Nanak’s birthday, Good Friday, New Year.

Government servants who need to avail themselves of non-compulsory holidays should take prior permission from their head department or concerned office. There will be only one optional holiday for Muslims and three optional holidays for non-Muslims.

The notification has announced at least 22 optional holidays for government employees. Muslim employees are allowed to take only one optional leave while non-Muslims will have three optional leaves.
