The Higher Education Commission (HEC) invites Pakistani researchers/scholars to submit applications for the HEC Research Award competition. The purpose of these awards is to recognize excellence in research, contributions to intellectual development and promote high-impact publications.

Award categories
Awards will be given in the following three categories.
- Excellent researcher
- Best Young Researcher
- Best Publication (with special emphasis on presenting research publications on the Constitution of Pakistan in view of the Golden Jubilee of the 1973 Constitution)
Eligibility Criteria
General Eligibility
- The applicant was never blacklisted by HEC.
- The applicant/publication has not previously received the same award.
- Any publication to the credit of applicants/authors is not plagiarism as per HEC Plagiarism Policy.
- (a) Excellent researcher
- Applicant must be a resident of Pakistan for at least three years as on 1 January 2023.
- (b) Best Young Researcher
- Applicant must be below 40 years of age as on 1st January 2023.
- Applicant must be a resident of Pakistan for at least one year as on 1 January 2023.
- (c) Best Publication
- The publication must be a scholarly book or journal article.
- Publication must not be more than three years before 1 January 2023.
iii The publication must be written by more than three authors.
- All authors must be a resident of Pakistan for at least three years on 1 January 2023.
- Research articles are published only in W-category journals in the HEC Journal Recognition System (HJRS).
- Research articles should have a minimum of 100 citations.
vii Publications (including extended versions of a paper) previously submitted for the same award category are not eligible for resubmission.
viii Books must be published by a recognized academic press.

How to Apply
Applications should be submitted through HEC’s online portal. The deadline for application submission is Wednesday, April 26, 2023. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
