The Hon’ble Supreme Court vide its order dated March 6, 2018 directed the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to reinstate the Law Graduate Assessment 6, 2018 Test (Law-GAT) conducted by the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC). The objective of the assessment test is to ensure proper screening and testing of law graduates aspiring to join the legal profession so that only those qualified with the necessary basic knowledge of law can enter the legal profession to practice law.
Therefore, a law graduate can only be eligible to apply to the Bar Council for enrollment as an advocate if he/she qualifies in the assessment test conducted by the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan, which is authorized by the PBC. The Supreme Court of Pakistan by its order dated 6 March 2018 has directed to restore. Eligibility Criteria
